Fall 2015
I love Autumn in Michigan, and the Winter that follows. The fiery leaves dancing on the breeze. Pumpkin patches springing up in every field. Apple orchards and cider mills, with freshly-squeezed cider and donuts warm from the oven. The deer who play across my back yard, pausing at the pond for a drink before disappearing like ghosts into the surrounding woods. Best of all, I love sipping hot tea and reading a favorite book while snuggled under an afghan in front of a roaring fire.
And then there's the knowledge that my favorite holidays will soon be here. I love gathering with my entire family for Thanksgiving dinner. Everyone will bring a dish to pass, and the smell of turkey roasting in the oven permeates the house. And then, as snow falls, covering the landscape with a glorious white blanket, we'll come together again to celebrate Christmas, with its familiar music, its cinnamon-scented goodies, its colorfully-wrapped presents, and a feeling of love and contentment that warms the soul.
I wish all of you the very best Autumn, as well as a dreamy Winter. Like me, when you're not cooking, shopping, celebrating, I hope you snuggle in and enjoy some good books.
